SOCKSisanetworkingproxyprotocol.TheAxisproductcanbeconguredtouseaSOCKSservertoreachnetworksontheother

sideofarewallorproxyserver.ThisfunctionalityisusefuliftheAxisproductislocatedonalocalnetworkbehindarewall,and

notications,uploads,alarms,etcneedtobesenttoadestinationoutsidethelocalnetwork(forexampletheInternet).

QoS(QualityofService)guaranteesacertainlevelofaspeciedresourcetoselectedtrafconanetwork.AQoS-awarenetwork

prioritizesnetworktrafcandprovidesagreaternetworkreliabilitybycontrollingtheamountofbandwidthanapplicationmayuse.

TheQoSsettingsareconguredunderSystemOptions>Network>QoS.UsingDSCP(DifferentiatedServicesCodepoint)values,the

Axisproductcanmarkthefollowingtypesoftrafc:livevideo,event/alarmtrafcandmanagementtrafc.

SNMP

TheSimpleNetworkManagementProtocol(SNMP)allowsremotemanagementofnetworkdevices.AnSNMPcommunityisthe

groupofdevicesandmanagementstationrunningSNMP.Communitynamesareusedtoidentifygroups.

TheAxisproductcanbeconguredtosupportSNMPontheSystemOptions>Network>SNMPpage.

Dependingonthelevelofsecurityrequired,selecttheversiononSNMPtouse.

SNMPv1/v2providesthelowestlevelofsecurity.Thecommunitynamecanbespeciedasapasswordforreadorread/write

accesstoallsupportedSNMPdevices.ThedefaultpasswordfortheReadcommunityispublicandthedefaultpasswordforthe

Writecommunityiswrite.

Note

IfHTTPSisenabled,SNMPv1andSNMPv2cshouldbedisabled.

TrapsforSNMPv1/v2areusedbytheAxisproducttosendmessagestoamanagementsystemonimportanteventsandstatus

changes.CheckEnabletrapsandentertheIPaddresswherethetrapmessageshouldbesentandtheTrapcommunitythat

shouldreceivethemessage.

•Linkup

•Authenticationfailed

SNMPv3providesencryptionandsecurepasswords.TousetrapswithSNMPv3,anSNMPv3managementapplicationisrequired.

TouseSNMPv3,HTTPSmustbeenabled,seeHTTPSonpage37.ToenableSNMPv3,checktheboxandprovidetheinitialuser

password.
